Book description

Change can be challenging – especially for children. COVID-19 has turned our world completely upside down. Let’s help our little ones reframe their negative feelings and focus on the positive. With cute and cuddly animals and adorable doodles, this book shows that bad things can have a bright side. After all, without the rain, there would be no rainbow.

Coronavirus can cause fear, anxiety, and disappointment for kids, but this colorful creation promotes a sense of hope, unity, and resilience. If you know a child who’s having a hard time adjusting to their “new normal,” let’s spread positive vibes during the global pandemic. From courage and kindness to patience and gratitude, we have so many things to be thankful for!

About MER

MER’s goal is to break the cycle of poverty and improve the overall lives of these 12 children. With your support, we can continue to help these children in need.

ARK partnered with the Cayman Learning Centre and George Town Primary School to dedicate specialized support to 12 students (years 3-6). Before joining this program, most children were not at a year 1 reading level. Without this academic intervention (which is provided for an hour each day), there is little hope they would progress or graduate. In addition to the gift of education, MER also provides a holistic approach, as they:
·         Embrace the entire family and help parents
·         Guarantee food at home and lunches at school
·         Ensure utilities are running and homes are safe/improved
·         Provide afterschool and weekend activities for children

Message from the Author

"I have always admired ARK’s altruism, and I wanted to find a meaningful way to devote my time and energy to this outstanding organization."

Fast forward to 2020…I wrote my first children’s book, “Thank you, RAIN CLOUD.” It helps kids practice gratitude during the pandemic and see the silver lining. After all, without the rain, there would be no rainbow!

I recently came up with the idea to do an “act of random kindness” for ARK – how fitting! Their MER program (Mentor. Educate. Reinforce) helps students who are struggling in school and often come from impoverished homes. This initiative is closely aligned with the underlying message of my book, which promotes a sense of hope, unity, and resilience.

I look forward to “paying it forward” and helping build a brighter future for these children. Between October – December 2020, I will donate 100% of all proceeds (for books sold on-island) to this incredible cause. It is certainly a small silver lining in 2020…
